I can see wasted time in my future... This is a subject near and dear to my heart; IMHO Alabama and the oh so mighty SEC are paper tigers. Their schedules are built to minimize opportunities to lose by scheduling fewer league games, fewer road games, fewer games against ranked opponents. Judicious scheduling of FCS and lower tier FBS teams is equivalent to a couple of extra byes every season, opportunities to heal up, get game experience for younger players and extra time to prepare for better opponents (think Chattanooga the week before Auburn, although that didn't work out so well).
Who knows if it is driven by the money generated by 100k fans at home games or gaming the BCS (probably both !) but the result is serial BCS titles and ESPN in you pocket.
Anyway, if I get some time I'll look at Alabama vs. Stanford in terms of number of league games, number or road games, ranked opponents, lower tier opponents, etc. over the past four years. Might be interesting, might shut me up !
