Good? Fans who get frustrated by Stanford's offense this year would've died of massive strokes if our offense had reproduced some of MSU's performances this year. The Spartans scored 7 offensive points against a 1-11 Purdue team. 14 offensive points against a dreadful South Florida team. Could you imagine the shitstorm* Stanford boards would've been beset by if Stanford scored a mere 14 points against the 59ers? That's the equivalent.
Set against those performances, 13 points in a loss to N.D.** or 14 points against a solid Minnesota team don't seem too bad. MSU is a team that saved two really good offensive performances late in the season, for their two trophy games. Good for them. But let's not pretend Stanford's defensive performance was anything approaching its usual standard, however. People have demanded Shaw and Bloomgren's heads on pikes for less.
* (technical term)
** (I remember complaints about Stanford's offensive performance that yielded 27 points!)
