This is quickly becoming the nerdiest thread on a Stanford sports message board, which probably puts it in the running for nerdiest thread on the internet.
Anyways Settlers is a great game, and actually not that complicated once you've played it a couple times. Seems to be a gateway drug to the true depths of nerddom. My personal favorite nerdy boardgame is the game Junta, in which the various players each play as various high ranking members of a fictitious banana republic, trying to backstab, murder, and coup their way to winning, which is by appropriating the most foreign aid money. I imagine Garvin would be a natural.
