Seems like this is the same old story. If the defense struggles, then Stanford loses big to RPI top 50 types. If the defense shuts down the other team, then Stanford loses a brick city close game to RPI top 50 types. Either way Stanford loses by coupling solid defense with unbelievably bad offense.
The players have talent, but it often feels like they go several minutes at a time without running an organized play in the second half of most games. Ugh.
FWIW - I would not expect a better coach would have provided Stanford with a win over UofA, but this game's story seems so familiar. And it is painful to see the same outcome game after game when the game is close with 10 minutes to go.
