Of course, Muir has to recuse himself from any decisions involving Stanford. In fact, he has to leave the room if and when Stanford is discussed.
The one advantage of having your guy in the room is that he can answer factual questions about the program like the status of an injured player. I doubt that that's a big advantage.
Anyway, if the pessimists are right, by the time Muir starts on the panel next year, we'll be so far from tournament contention that Muir will never have to leave the room. (Personally, I think that next year's team won't be that bad, but with all the turnover, who knows)
