Erica may be (she's averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds a game as a junior). That's an extremely difficult message to deliver to a close-knit family. The Ogwumikes have already demonstrated their sensitivity on the issue, transferring Olivia and Erica to a different high school so they wouldn't have to undergo so much comparison with their older sisters.
I sympathize with everybody involved in this. You don't want to create sibling rivalries that tear a family apart. Making it even trickier is that Olivia is a total Stanford nut. Everytime I've seen her at a game or a Final Four party, going way back to her middle school days, she's been wearing a Stanford jersey.
Nice post. As much as I love the elder daughters, I might be even more impressed by the parents in that family. When I was sitting in the stands after watching UConn end Stanford's streak at Maples, fighting a Churchillian black dog of a depression I should add, I actually heard Peter Ogwumike's voice in my head saying, "Every disappointment is an opportunity."
