I will always be grateful for what Mike did to bring the basketball program from the dark ages to a remarkable period of sustained excellence. 

I am just old enough to have personally experienced Stanford men's basketball of the mid-70's.  I can say for myself that getting to watch the program's ascendance from 7-20 under DiBiaso to  30-5 and the Final Four in 97-98 was the greatest experience I have had as a devoted college basketball fan.

It was a great ride.
