Taking Mendez's allegations at face value, I must say it makes me think less of Montgomery. However, I am not inclined to take them in that manner. This whole story line, which has been bubbling around here for quite a while, requires significantly more information and sourcing than is offered in this piece. Honestly, the style of his writing oozes with "agenda" and he does little to convince this reader that he has more than very strong feelings. The shoe parable is just juvenile.
That having been said, there has been a boatload of smoke (mixed metaphor?) around this issue and I am one of those kind of people that figures there is fire. I just don't know if it's a single match or a Big Game bonfire. Nor will I wait breathlessly to find out. Maybe it will all come out at some point and I will adjust my view of MM further, one way or the other. In the meantime, I think I will pause before reading Mendez next time.
