Thanks for that SI article, Garvin. It confirms my ancient but still pretty accurate long term memory in that it says:
1. Lofton was not a highly recruited football player
2. In his first 2-3 years he was dissed by the football coaches for doing T&F in the Spring
3. Until Walsh came and discovered and developed and used his talent, he was going nowhere near where he ended after that year udner Walsh
4. Regardless of 1-3 above, James Lofton was and continues to be an exteremely talented and impressive person
