The pure negativity with no upside commentary is quite astounding. Rarely do I tweet anything personal on my account @All_Right_Now1 (shameless plug) but he really pissed me off. The GM for Washington did state they were going to build depth and it appears that even though they have OLBs on the roster that are functional, the talent and upside of The Yeti is too good to pass up.
Here is an interview he gave right after the selection: https://soundcloud.com/michaelprtd/trent...draft-call
Pundits know nothing. Mel Kiper rated the 2011 49er draft a "C-" and that their second round pick was a reach. Here's the 49er 2011 draft. I'd say it was reasonably successful:
Aldon Smith, HoF talent, most sacks (42) in first 43 games of career of any NFL player.
Colin Kaepernick, holds record for QB yards rushing in a game and did it in a PLAYOFF game vs. Green Bay, led NFL in YPA in 2012, 17-6 as starter, 1 SB, two NFC champ games, 2nd in NFL in YPC last year
Chris Culliver (starting nickelback, currently on IR),
Kendall Hunter, #2 RB averages 4.6 per carry
Daniel Kilgore (solid backup, played in all 32 games over last two years, will compete to start at C this year)
Ronald Johnson, played WR for PHILLY,
Colin Jones, rare caucasian DB, played 44 of 48 regular season games over last three years
Bruce Miller, lead/starting FB by week 3 of rookie year, started 34 of 45 games, 48 receptions (as FB) over 3 years.
Michael Person, didn't play in NFL
Curtis Holcomb, Jacksonville's travel team.
Not a bad draft. Brushes with the law? Different story. But not a C- draft.
