I found the basis for Princeton's claim of 42 straight years with a national championship.
Princeton is counting non-NCAA sports. That makes a brobdingnagian difference because most of Princeton's championships are in non-NCAA sports such as men's squash, women's squash, men's rowing, men's lightweight rowing, women's rowing (before it was an NCAA sport), and women's lightweight rowing. Squash has been especially important in this streak.
Also, Princeton is counting both individual and team championships, which again makes a brobdingnagian difference.
