The Beatles are certainly iconic and certainly great, but Mom and Dad tolerated (even appreciated) the Beatles. My second album, Rubber Soul, was a birthday present from Mom. (My first album was an Oscar Brand LP of a children's concert at Town Hall or something like that. I remember one really cute girl wearing Mary Janes on the cover. That sounds incredibly creepy as a 51 year old, but 45 years ago that was AOK.) Now the Stones, Kinks, Who, Neil Young, etc, etc....I had to buy my own albums there. Not a Mom and Dad band among them.
