in the '70's.  Not sure if it was life imitating art or just a put-on,  but he sure looked and acted inebriated while lurching around the stage for a good deal of the concert. Not Joe Cocker kind of lurching.  The banging-into-random-stuff kind of lurching.  Anyway he was drinking some bottled beverage and managed to spill/splash/spray a decent amount of it.  Some time in there they sang Demon Alcohol.  Which kinda made sense and would have made it great performance art... or just a drunk guy doing rock and roll. Hard to tell.  Good concert, though.

I saw a concert by Stephen Stills at Red Rocks Amphitheater outside of Denver and it sounds similar, at least in terms of inebriation levels.  Stills came out at the start with a full bottle of Jack Daniels (he was already pretty lit) and it was gone by the time he was done playing.  Un-freakin'-believable!

But what was even harder to believe was the quality of his playing.  Between songs it seemed as though he was having a difficult time just standing up.  His speech was slurred and he was very difficult to understand.  But one of his encores was "Black Queen" which he played to absolute perfection.  It's too bad he didn't get to hear it.  ;D
