Vis a vis the Kinks, those of us who attended Britain I (Jan-Jun 1966) were lucky to have seen them live in the Grantham Armory. A few weeks later Them, with Van Morrison, passed through. I also remember during that period Nancy Sinatra being featured on BBC's Top of the Pops, not only for "These Boots...." but also for the cringe-inducing duet "Something Stupid" with her father.
My most recent close encounter (this May)with the British 60's was a live gig from the remaining Searchers ("Needles and Pins," "Don't Throw your Love Away," etc.) at Carnegie Hall. No not THAT Carnegie Hall, but the one in Andy's hometown of ~Dunfermline, Scotland. Magic.
