I watched somewhat more of the game, and the way the the Cougs lost it was not particularly "Couging it", if that means to lose a game they had in the bag. Basically neither defense could stop the other team's offense, so it looked pretty likely that the winner would be the last team that got the ball with enough time left on the clock to score.

Agreed, it's not like they looked really good to start (actually sort of came back).  I don't think the result was that surprising, WSU demonstrated their defense and running game suck, but they can put up a lot of yards/points passing.  That's not a recipe for winning any close games easily, and they will likely be a lower to middling quality team again.  I don't see that changing while Leach is in charge. 

I liked Wilners line regarding WSU from his Stanford game-by-game predictions today, "no team whose offense has “Raid” in the nickname and can’t stop the run is going to hold up against Stanford’s ground-and-pound approach."
