The roles must reverse against Army.Â
In sports, the longer a game is, the more favorable it is for the team with more talent. While Stnford wanted to slow tempo vs U$C, it will be advisable to increase tempo against Army. The Black Knights will be doing all they can to shrink the game. If Stanford does also, it weakens it's advantage of having the more talented athletes, and plays into Army's hands.
The key to this game is to score quickly and force Army out of its run all the time comfort zone. If Stanford is content to slow things down and run the ball a lot, the score will have limited opportunity to widen and Stanford will find itself in a real battle where it's margin for error becomes smaller.
The Army defense couldn't mount a pass rush against Buffalo. If that's the case, and Stanford provided great pass protection for Hogan against U$C, it sure seems like the game plan this week should be to throw more than pass, and do it at a brisk pace.
