If you'd pick Golson over Hogan, doesn't that imply Shaw over Kelly? After all, Shaw has a better record than Kelly...against a tougher schedule...and with substantially fewer institutional advantages. If Kelly's QB is better too, this implies Shaw is a much better coach than Kelly.

fair point, so thats why i asked.  But i would say IF stanfords schedule is tougher, it is only slightly.  You can not look at NDs schedule and slam them for it.  I have nothing but respect for Stanford, but ND plays real teams too.

And shaw does have a better record at stanford than kelly does at ND (37-8 vs. 41-15) BUT Shaw came into a MUCH MUCH better position at Stanford than Kelly did at ND,  ND has had to rebuild a lot, and i think they are still a year away from really being something great.  Heck i could have coached 2011 stanford to 10 wins.
