  you act like the academics between the 2 schools are all that different.  Both are great institutions.  So no need to go there.

You're right.  There is no need to compare to the pure academics of the 2 schools. 

When it comes to our football teams, the academic standards are very different.  One of the things that pisses people off is that NotreFraud and its fans (like the similarly loathed University of New Jersey, Durham) either pretend or are under mass delusion that they have high academic standards for their athletes.  One look at your roster and only a handful of names are familiar:

Doug Randolph, Durham Smythe, Amir Carlisle, Corey Robinson. 

Maybe missing a few, but only a few.  And who knows if they turned us down because of admissions like that Fake Dead Girlfriend guy.  Your entire roster has the athletic talent to play at Stanford.  Only a few had the brains for Stanford to even consider them.  And you guys like to think that the caliber of your student-athletes is comparable.  Give me a break.
