RE: Stanford vs ND academics....I'm one who loves statistics of any kind, relevant or not. Looking at 2014 applicant pools for the two schools, ND had 17,901 applicants, accepted 21.2%, and 53.2% of those enrolled. 90% were in the top 10% of their class. Stanford had 42,167 apps, accepted 5.1%, 78.8% enrolled. 95% were in the top 10% of their class.
Academically speaking, looks as though the two schools are roughly comparable in the caliber of student they accept, but it looks like more have Stanford as their #1 choice.
(I applied to 3 schools, was accepted at all, chose Stanford over Caltech. Football was a prominent factor in my selection ;D)Â
