Now i don't know if winston deserves his grades or not, i struggle with the idea that someone who makes his choices and speaks the way he does, that he is going to have the discipline to actually earn a 4.0 in high school and 3.4 in college, but maybe im wrong.

Smart people can do dumb things too. I have no doubt there are athletes at Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, etc. who have sexually assaulted women (or men...), cheated on tests (actually I know of a prominant WWP player at Stanford who asked my wife to write her paper) and commited crimes. Heck We have a very sad story of a former player who got into shenanigans with recruits, which I won't go into detail. Being smart doesn't make you a better person.

I am sure being played in South Bend is an advantage for ND. Stanford plays better in front of the home crowd. Staying on campus, eating home cooking and not have crowd noises is clearly an advantage for ND.
