I was seated in the next to last row of the corner of the stadium which made it tougher to follow individual players unless the action was at our end of the field. But I thought that the DL held its own. ASU only got 2.5 yards per carry running. The DL did a good job of gumming up the running lanes between the tackles which allowed the LBs to make a lot of plays. Stanford had 8 TFLs that were non-sacks, 12 TFLs total which is a great effort.
I think the issue going forward will once again be depth. We are effectively playing our 4th string nose tackle (Nwafor out pre-season, then losing Shittu and perhaps Parry). Who backs up Phillips? May have to move Anderson, Leuders even Kaumatule inside at times. Will be interesting to see the DL depth chart for this week.
