Seifert doesn't get enough credit.  Walsh coached the Niners from 1979 to 1988.  In the five years before Seifert joined the team in 1983, Walsh's defenses were ranked (by points allowed) #18, #27, #26, #2 (Super Bowl Year) and #23.  In the six years that Seifert served as defensive coordinator, the Niner defenses were ranked #4, #1, #2, #3, #3 and #8.
