It wasn't pretty, but it was a win. High points are almost exclusively the 3-point shooting. Take away the 3s, and Hawaii wins 58-50. Our FT at 80% was also good.
Most of our 3 point shots were wide open shots, as a result of good play and passing. That is a plus. But against a more athletic team, we may not get those open shots.
Hawaii pulled down 15 OR on 39 misses (38.4%) while Stanford pulled down 9 OR on 23 misses (39.1%). For both teams, the number of OR was too high, but Stanford did do negligibly better statistically. (Perhaps not better when you consider the height difference or the expected performance of the teams.)
The fact that we had 4 fouls on 3 players, and only 6 for the rest of the team is bothersome to me. If they go out, do we have any defense, any rebounding? (Those three had 12 of 18 fouls (exactly 2/3), and 21 of 34 rebounds (barely under 2/3).)
Yes, Taylor (the one under 50%) seemed pretty ineffective today. Esp. considering she played 26 minutes.
Interesting that Bonnie only played 3 minutes in the second half (no fouls, no shots, no rebounds).
But I have to say if Hawaii's starting players played the whole game, I think we might have lost.
