Watched the first half, and listened to the second while in transit.
The biggest thing for me: Thanks to Tara for finally going to a 2-3 zone against a bad outside shooting team. There were a few glitches, mostly in controlling the defensive boards (UCLA ended up with 18 offensive rebounds), but for the most part it completely flummoxed the Bruins\' driving game. Can\'t count the number of times I heard Morris, Walker or Campbell drive into the lane and get completely stuffed/stymied and either take a contested bad shot or turn the ball over. Nice to see.
Also, the great performances by both Chiney and Toni were wonderful. Chiney an absolute monster on the boards, hitting key free throws down the stretch and finishing with 18 points and 15 boards. And Toni, especially in the first part of the second half, was nails - a corner three on another tough shooting day for Stanford to push the lead to 10 (at that point, the team was something like 2-15 from 3 point range against a packed in Bruin zone).
One thing I did like was coming out in the second half in the three-guard alignment that I recommended, with Pohlen more at the 2, Kokenis and LaRocque along with Chiney and Kayla. That was the stretch that took a halftime lead out to about 8 points, and I don\'t think the Bruins ever got closer than 7 after that.
All in all, a really solid win. With Nneka in a walking boot, I\'m hoping they\'ll rest her next weekend, and look to maybe get her some minutes against da Bares the following Thursday. Even without her, we shouldn\'t have too much trouble with the Oregons at home. But whatever she needs to heal.
