In being succinct regarding the concerns about John, I went too far, and the subject deserves more context. 

These coaches are thrilled to have so generous a booster. But their view--and I have no idea if it's a majority view--is that JA
's gifts come with conditions that some of them find bizarre.  (Dining tables in the coaches' homes, as one odd example.)

The second concern is that the department is heavily populated with JA chums who, because of JA's influence, cannot be fired.  And we needn't look far to see where this lack of skill has manifested itself.
