Some people's capacity for empathy and guilt stems from the superficiality of their thought process. I totally agree with Stupac2 and also agree that the sports world as a whole should continue to do everything they can to reduce/eliminate the lifetime impacts of some of these injuries. I think the attitude that we should not support athletics because some people get hurt - sometimes badly - is the kind of thinking that gave rise to the phrase about babies and bath water.
