The future will depend on how our bigs evolve (McCall, Kaylee and Kailee Johnson) and if they become consistent scoring threats. Though they may not be the Ogwumike sisters, to have great seasons again and go deep in the NCAA tournament, they can't be in there just to rebound and put back misses from our other players. There is no way for us to compete with good teams, much less the UConn, South Carolina, N.D.s of the world without them being able to score.
Hopefully Lili Thompson's head injury concerns are not too great and she won't have to retire early like Toni Kokenis.
Next year, maybe Alanna Smith will make a smoother and faster transition to college basketball and make an immediate contribution, since she has experience on the Australian national team, playing against top-level competition.
Hopefully Sniezek will also step in and help Thompson and Roberson out after Orrange graduates.
Then we have to have better luck in finding top-tier recruits in the upcoming classes. Landing Lauren Cox in the Class of 2016 would be a great coup, especially if our current bigs don't pan out.
