Seems to me that the changes will provide a net benefit to Stanford competitively.  We have higher retention/graduation rates so this levels the playing field against schools that oversign and cut players.  The stipend in the hands of our student-athletes is less likely to get them in trouble as compared to the athletes at our competitors.

I fully expect the Alabamas of the world to find a way around that. I'll be pleasantly surprised if they can't.
