As usual, there is no one school that is poised as Stanford's main rival on the recruiting trail. The biggest obstacle is the admissions office. Assuming good admissions news from here on out, there isn't a single one of the 14 commits, 9 known offerees, or 2 walk on candidates who I'd predict to land elsewhere. Except for Hoge, I don't know of any of other high-priority recruits who likely would have gained admission to Stanford and still chose to go elsewhere. Some guys, like St. Brown and Wimbush, chose not to take the APs, so maybe they should count as choosing to go elsewhere, but I don't see how they are different from smart kids who choose not to do enough work to get good grades. Stanford recruits kids with a mix of IQ and motivation to stretch themselves academically, and those guys missed out on half of the equation. The caveat is that we don't know enough about the academic profile of some recruits, like Wilkins, Williams, Petite, Town, and Stump. If they would have qualified for admission, that changes my analysis.
When I registered here in 2014, TrumpCard seemed like an apolitical user ID...
