When I had the time midday, I attended Council (formerly Council of Chiefs) meetings. Time after time, their parents wanted them to go to Stanford. Todd always asks the players why they came to Stanford. Several years ago, AJ Tarpley's response was "My mom said, 'You're going to Stanford.'"

Here is Jon Wilner's version of the story.  The date says it came out a day after the Zach Rosenblatt story, but I swear I read this earlier this week.  Another version?

"Until I committed to Stanford, it kind of sucked not being offered (a scholarship) by Arizona," the Tucson native said.

The story does have an interesting tidbit about RichRod's offensive scheme.

The Wildcats (3-1, 0-1), like so many teams in the conference, make use of the spread formation. But their scheme is different -- more different to decipher -- than most.
Arizona's linemen use run-blocking techniques on the vast majority of plays, regardless of ultimate intent. That forces the linebackers and safeties to assume a run. Yet the quarterback reads his keys before determining whether to run or pass.  "It makes it tough on everybody," Stanford defensive coordinator Lance Anderson said. 
Particularly the linebackers, who have less time than the defensive backs to react, shed blocks and either pursue the ball carrier or drop into coverage.
