Since when did "matriculate the ball down the field" become a phrase that someone imagines to make some semblance of sense?
I just heard it for at least the 3rd time this season; most recently on the Pac-12 Network post-game.
Do we need to recruit Inigo Montoya to clarify? Or maybe college commentators could ring up their 8th grade English teacher, Miriam Webster. ;)

Just watched the screen to Wright for a touchdown. We actually had three players there to block two Arizona defenders. That was beautiful (and great job blocking by Rector).

Fanaika has played a lot as an Ogre wearing #94. But nice to see him in playing his regular position with his regular number.

Amazing game, but I have to critique something. Was Arizona's punter just really good, or does Stanford need to work on the return game. He had 48 yards per punt and Stanford had negative return yards. Seems like the low kicks to the side of the field were extremely effective. I recall the same thing last year against Utah. I just wrote it off to facing Utah's all-conference punter, but now I'm not s sure.
When I registered here in 2014, TrumpCard seemed like an apolitical user ID...

I think C-Mac was just grabbing the ball and expecting the get tackled. It was more to stop the ball from going further than expecting much of a return. As for what can be done strategically about that rugby-esque style of punting, not sure.

The lateral run with the "Aussie Style" kick actually does give more coverage time. This is needed since the kicks tend to be flatter. That style of kicking also leads to more chance of a forward rotation on the ball so it bounces forward more often than the traditional punt. They had a large segment on the advantages with Rich Rod on the local affiliate last week.

The counter is to rush 2 hard from the side that the punter runs to. This leaves the returner naked if the kick is down the sideline. Risk v. Reward is a tough one on this.

I saw Burkett carrying the white board and marker. Next game I'm going to try to see what he does with it.
