#6 Stanford WVB lost to unranked Colorado for the first time ever (in the 15th meeting). (23-25, 27-25, 23-25, 21-25)
All four games were close and winnable, but Stanford didn't do what was necessary to win. 12 service errors (vs 2 aces) surely didn't help - most of them seemed to be mishits into the net. While I didn't agree with all the calls, I wouldn't blame the loss on the refs or luck.
I am no VB expert. What I see in a number of our games is that our attempted kills & our blocks are more often dug than theirs. My feeling is that we seem not to be in position for making the digs. The stats indicate Colorado had 60 digs to our 44.
Once again, Jordan had poor stats: 5 kills, 4 errors, on 30 attempts. I have to question Madi's distributing the ball to her so often (but maybe that's her only option, and so she's often got two blockers ready to go against her). Madi had 2 kills & 2 errors on 8 attempts.
As the announcers kept pointing out, Stanford had difficulty handling the serve and getting a good pass. I didn't think it was quite as bad as they seemed to think, but they're the experts. Colorado had only 2 aces.
I simply don't know what to make of the team. Yes, Jordon had injuries, but seems to be playing all the time. Yes, we lost an All-Everything player, but Ivana is playing adequately in her place (.308 today, but with only 13 attempts). Still we have 3 All-Americans playing and a fantastic freshman. The setter is a senior.  I can see losing to US.C and Penn State, but not to Colorado.
