Morris probably co-favorite with Fabian Herbers from Creighton. Herbers definitely outdoes Morris in counting stats (15G, 15A in 22 games vs. Jordan's 8 G, 3A in 14 games before the tournament started.) But (1) he's German, and who knows about the willingness of the voters to select a German player two years in a row, and (2) Morris will get a lot of extra credit for what he's done for the USMNT and especially college soccer - again, first collegian to play/score for the USMNT in 20 years or so, etc.Â
This is one of those issues where counting stats often predominate, and that will favor forwards and midfielders - when almost every college team plays with 4 defenders and a keeper out of 11, only 4 of the 16 semifinalists are defensive players. So it would be a big hill to climb for either Sullivan or Vincent.
