Yeah, good luck to Barry J Sanders. It's unfortunate that he never really was able to fulfill his promise with Stanford, but he was the consummate team player. I wish him the best of luck.

I hope he lights it up for them, but I don't know if Okie St's OL is going to be as good as Stanford's OL. Would love to see him wreck OU/Baylor/TCU and keep the Big12 out of the playoff talks :)

Pretty much this exactly, though hopefully Oklahoma State doesn't run the table against those teams to be an undefeated Power 5 champ! (That would seem unlikely, though, since they get OU, Baylor, and TCU all on the road, plus a tricky road game against Kansas State with a gimme at Kansas. Home conference schedule is Texas, Iowa State, West Virginia, and Texas Tech. Not a year to expect much from the Pokes in terms of results, but hopefully they can steal one or two from the triumvirate currently atop the Big 12.)

Okie State doesn't run the ball all that much. Last year they got 26% of their total yards from scrimmage by running. For comparison Stanford got 51+% of our yards running, soon to be Sanders opponent Baylor got 53%.
Of Ok State's 2015 RBs, the only one who doesn't have eligibility remaining is Corey Bennett, who had two carries on the season.
On the other hand, there don't seem to be any stars there, so perhaps Mr. Sanders is exactly what they are looking for.

I think he wins the job and puts up above average numbers--better than those from this last season. Not sure if he gets a sniff from the NFL however. But I hope he does, and I hope he's a Stanford man in the pros.

Oklahoma State's rushing numbers have been in a steady decline the past several years. They used to have a pretty competent ground attack under Gundy if I'm remembering correctly, so perhaps Sanders is just what the doctor ordered.

True, but if memory serves, Gundy's ground game was always set up by a good spread attack, very much like Mike Leach's Texas Tech offenses. BJS may need a competent QB to take the heat off. Or maybe the OL will rise to the occasion and make holes.

The last time Ok State ran for more yards than they passed on a season was 2009. That a fairly high bar, however, as most teams pass for more yards than run by at least a little. In Ok State's case, most of those years since 2009 the run game made up less than 30% of their rush yards, which is pretty small - about what c.a.l. had last year. However, in their good years Ok State has had a pretty good yds/carry average as they have used the run game as a counter against their dominant pass attack. The last year that was the case was 2012 when they averaged 5.39 yds/carry to tie for 11th. The year before, the year we lost the Fiesta Bowl to them, they had the same average for 10th.
For a back like Sanders who can catch the ball and break big runs there are opportunities available, but he is going to have to beat out some incumbents for the job and won't be getting tons of carries.
