Nike's deal with Michigan looks better than Under Armour's deal with UCB.
UCB got a GREAT deal. We joke about their AD, but the people in the UCB AD that put that deal together really did a great job.
As a private school Stanford does not need to disclose the specifics of their deal and Nike definitely likely has no desire to voluntarily disclose details of their advertising expenses, if given a choice. However, in addition to Nike to Stanford AD dollars Stanford University has received $500+ million from Nike's founder, Phil Knight. Phil Knight's net worth, and future donations, likely will remain correlated with Nike's success and market valuation. So hard to believe Stanford would switch for a few million over a 10 or 15 year deal.Â
