Houston up 26-17 over Oklahoma having just returned a missed field goal for a TD. If Houston wins this one they have a legitimate shot at the CFB. And doesnt hurt their candidacy to the Big 12 either.

Houston is driving on Oklahoma. If Oklahoma were to lose, it would increase the chances that the Big12 champ would have 2 losses.

We'd rather have Oklahoma have the loss. Houston has 0 room for error, 1 loss and they're done. Oklahoma can probably get in at 11-1. The more P5 losses, the better.

Houston had a loss that was hard to figure last year. Not a done deal they will be undefeated until they play Louisville.

Right, there are a few games that could trip them (Louisville, Navy, Memphis if they're still good), but really it's the same problem as every other big favorite: people forget that if you're a 90% favorite in 10 games you're way more likely to lose than to not (basically 2-1 to drop at least one). And I doubt Houston averages to a 90% favorite.

The loss to Houston hurts Oklahoma, but also takes a bit of luster away from the Big12, plus probably drops Oklahoma substantially in the rankings. But only Houston really benefits from beating Oklahoma.
