As for choosing Stanford, if you are serious about playing WR the the NFL, it's not a great career move to chose Stanford over Oregon. Sure, Doug Baldwin and a few others (barely) have made it in the Harbaugh/Shaw years, but it's hard to get good game video on you at Stanford these days.
I'm of the opinion Francis Owusu is quite a talented WR, but even as a 4 star recruit he hardly gets any opportunities to show what he can do. Rector will get most of the passes going his way this year, like Cajuste did last year. Look at Irwin. Just 2 catches in two games and he was a borderline 5 star recruit. But he did down punts really well against KSU and recovered that CMac fumble!

Umm, well, maybe it's not a good idea to choose Stanford, but Oregon certainly doesn't produce NFL wide outs. There has been one UO receiver drafted since 2007, Josh Huff (two if you count Thomas, who is kind of an RB/WR/KR). Those are the only UO receivers in the NFL, and I don't know if either will be there much longer. Stanford currently has 3 WRs on NFL rosters (Baldwin, Montgomery, and Whalen). So no, Oregon doesn't seem to give any benefit to being drafted.

Track was likely a brobdingnagian part of his decision out of high school, and Oregon is very strong there.

Also, Royce Freeman was injured against Nebraska, but he is questionable for Colorado, so he should be fine by the time they face us.

There were two other injuries in the game vs Nebraska - RB Royce Freeman and LT Tyrell Crosby. According to the article below, Freeman will likely be back this season, but news for Crosby is looking "grim". The loss of either would not be great. Freeman needs no introduction. Crosby is a JR and is the Ducks starting LT on a relatively green OL with a RSF as his backup. If he is gone, it would likely mean four RSF starting on the OLine to go along with SR Cameron Hunt at RG.

Ditto on the remark about Oregon receivers. They don't learn a pro system and run a simple passing scheme, heavy on bubbles. And they're not assured of getting a great throwing QB because they want a dual-threat, zone-read running guy there.

Seems to me that if your goal is an NFL career, Stanford is one of the better place to play WR. You won't get gaudy statistics, but you will suffer less wear and tear and learn to run routes in an pro-system. I think NFL scouts will see that.

I suspect top WR prospects want a bit more than to learn to run routes and save wear and tear. They want to showcase their abilities so they not only get a shot at the NFL, but become stars. They don't want to be drafted, they want to be drafted in the first three rounds.

Hey, two NFL TDs is two more than most Oregon receivers get. (Ty also had 15 catches for 136 yards last year--a 9.1 ypc average--to go along with those two scores.) He also had a 31.1-yard average across his 7 kick returns last year.Â

Curious, given all their skills players, that Oregon's big draft pick in recent years, other than Mariota, have been big guys: Dion Jordan and Kiki Alonso at LB, Arik Armstead and DeForrest Buckner at DL, and Howie Long's son Kyle, an OL. Kyle has become a stud, of course, and Alonso was sure heading that way. Not sure if he's back to 100%, but he had quite a rookie year.
