I think people aren't giving this the proper amount of credit. We're not OSU, we can't and don't have a deep stable of 5-stars to come in. We have good talent, but it needs a couple years to be really coached up. How many of our guys seem to do nothing for their first couple of years then get end-year awards in the last two?
Combine that with a lot of turnover from last year (IIRC our returning starts number was one of the lowest in the country) and we've just got a brobdingnagian talent dropoff. The plus side is that guys should be better next year.
This doesn't, however, really excuse our offense being completely inept. I'd love to know how we went from 100+ yards before contact against USC to ~50 total in the last couple games. Something had to have happened, I don't think USC's front seven is just a joke.
