I agree that forgive is the wrong word. He didn't personally injure me, so I don't feel any need to forgive. But his legacy will always be tarnished for me and I won't think of him as fondly as I do guys like Luck, Gerhart, Taylor, et al.

While he might not have been able to improve his draft status yesterday, his decision not to play could have dropped him a few spots. He may have great advisors, but they can't predict the outcome of such uncharted waters. They don't have a wealth of data points to draw from, so they're making educated guesses at best.

I pretty much agree with FarmBoy on this one. "Forgiveness" does not come into play. Being a really good teammate does. There is risk of injury every time you step on the field. Maybe if CMAC played, the play where Chryst was hurt may not have happened. I'm not really arguing that, just sayin'.  Lots of unknowns out there.

Watching whatever bowl the Alabama-Washington game is, I think for CMAC it comes down to competitiveness. He wants to prove himself against top-level defenses. Evidently UNC didn't measure up.

I'm no NFL insider, but the marginal negative impact of being viewed as a quitter would seem to be worse than an extra 20 carries on his player profile.

Depends on the undisclosed injury actually.  Never claimed it was purely about that injury.  Rather it was part of the entire calculus.  From our perspective there are so many unknown variables, so hard to know and we are not entitled to an explanation IMHO.  In the McCaffery family a number of those variables are actually known.  Given the family is all-in on the sports scene and has NFL experience, I will continue to believe they understood the full equation and made the best call for Christian.  Really doesn't matter what we all think BTW.  It was his right to make that call, and he made it.    No need to seek or get forgiveness IMHO.

I do think one could walk down the hypothetical path and speculate if Chryst gets hurt if McCaffery is in the game.  My guess is Chryst doesn't get hurt on Friday, but a non-contact injury like that might have happened to Chryst eventually.  Continuing to walk down the hypothetical path...it might be best for Stanford for that ACL to happen in the Sun Bowl than in August in Sydney.
