I knew 38 years ago when I was applying to college that I wanted to be at a place with great academics and athletics. All 4 of the schools where I applied are in the top 9. And I attended grad school at another on the list.

My other choice of college would have left me rooting for the Beavers--and not the Oregon State variety. :P

My grad school was definitely not on the list, but it did have the first H-word Award winner.
On second thought, maybe that's not that big a deal. ::)

Caltech?
If there's one thing people have learned in Berkeley, it's that you can't put "Cal football" and "Rose Bowl" in the same sentence. The words just don't fit. You'd be better off linking "covered wagons" with "Mars travel." (Bruce Jenkins, Cal '70, SF Chronicle, Nov. 11, 2017)

PJ, bingo! I would have been part of the first class of incoming freshmen that included girls (there were about 30 female transfer students among 600 total undergrad enrollment at that time). My dad even tried to bribe me with the offer of a new car.
But once I had visited the Farm, I knew where I belonged... :)

My spirit animal. I'd like to say it's something badass like the Honey Badger, but upon serious introspection, it's the beaver: industrious and family oriented, and a wannabe engineer.
