GK3, the Golfweek article specified the injuries - "She suffered a concussion, received stitches on her nose and is currently experiencing pain in her wrist and knee."  A top player's golf swing is such a finely tuned motion that it can take a while to recover from any single disruption, much less multiple injuries.

Indeed, I would almost say that she should not plan on playing again this season in favor of a better recovery.

I think your advise is the best advise, get well, get her swing back after she is fully back from her injuries so they are not causing her to try and adjust her swing when she starts playing again.  Golf is not a sport where you can play well when playing hurt.

I was surprised they didn't convert the old varsity hitting area and charge a premium for hitting off the grass. My local range (Mariners Point, Foster City) charges $5 extra to hit off the grass and it's always busy over there.

Personally I don't see much value in it. 95%+ of golfers don't have a good enough swing where it will make a difference, including me.

I believe it was approximately 25 years ago that Stanford GC driving range was converted from  a grass tee hitting area to one of cement/synthetic mats. I assume the change was made because a grass tee hitting area is more expensive to maintain than mats.
For Stanford golf team (s) use, however, a grass hitting area was retained and still exists.

One unique aspect of Stanford's driving range space is its vast square footage of flat terrain hitting area.
Prior to the era of synthetic mats, due to divot damage, every few days driving range operators would need to move the tee blocks either forward or backward. The worn grass area would then need a month or more to rejuvenate. So , grass range tee blocks are constantly being moved forward, then backward, and within a relatively confined space finding suitable grass (for tee block usage) can be a challenge.
But compared to most driving range hitting areas, Stanford has considerably more space. Specifically, more than 50 yards of level terrain front-to-back hitting area. For decades the Stanford GC driving range hitting area was grass; a beautiful facility in harmony with the golf course itself.

We finish the first round at +8, 6 back of UCLA, with Lee our lowest scorer at even. Danielson, normally so consistent, had a tough round with 6 bogeys and 2 double bogeys. Hopefully she will bounce back so we can start counting her score again.

I'm not sure if things just went downhill suddenly, but Stanford is in third, at +18, behind +6 CU and E UCLA.  The Cardinal and Bruins are both through 16-18.  CU is done for the day.

Danielson and Aubert were +5 and +7 for the day (ouch).  Valenzuela and Chou are both playing 18 with +6 scores, and Lee is at -2 with 17 and 18 to play.

Stanford is leading a pack of four schools bunched tightly between +18 and +24.  Catching CU and UCLA will be an interesting challenge.
