This is not the first time in the Shaw Era that things have looked bleak. 2012. After a couple tough losses and poor offensive play they looked to be in trouble. He goes to Hogan, they run the table and win not only the Pac 12 but the Rose Bowl.

2014. Not a great season by any stretch. But they did turn it on down the stretch

2015. NW. Things looked bleak. Ship was sinking. Run was over. We know the rest.

My point is Shaws teams have shown remarkable resiliency. Something I believe is a reflection on Shaw.

Hoping they can do it again. Not so sure.

I do believe in Shaw's ability to turn it around, especially with Costello behind center. The problem is that our remaining schedule is a brutal gauntlet.  We have two "easy" games with ASU and OSU, but Utah, Oregon, Cal, WSU, and ND are 5 tough teams. If we can win 4 of those 5 I'd call it a great season given the start. 3/5 is probably more realistic.

I'm not sure why Oregon is a tough game but ASU isn't. After all, ASU just beat Oregon. Now, that doesn't contradict your point -- it underlines it. It's a tricky schedule.

Ha, wasn't aware of that result yet.  Also may have been giving Oregon too much credit based on its history and a win over Nebraska, which now looks less impressive.
