I dont have historical figures on this. But it has seemed to me that road teams in the Pac 12 this year have fared particularly poorly. Leave out OSU as they are simply bad. The overall home vs road records this year for the remaining 11:Â home 49-13. Road 19-29. Now that is a little skewed as many teams play at least two and some times three patsies at home. But you get the point.
Here are some of the particulars:
Stan 4-0. 2-2. Rice neutral
WSU. 7-0. 2-2
Wash. 5-0. 3-2
Berkeley 4-2 1-3
Ore. 4-1. 1-4
Sc. 6-0. 3-2
Ariz. 4-2. 3-1
ASU. 4-2. 1-3
UCLA. 5-0. 0-5
Utah 3-3. 1-3
Colorado. 3-3. 1-3
If you look at the road wins, there is not a significant one in the bunch. I think Utah may have been ranked when Stanford beat them. But that was a function of taking gimmies.
I have to wonder if one of the factors in this is the crazy scheduling. Washington bitched a bit about a road game on a short week. But you know what - it is a bit of a disadvantage. Then all the late night games etc.
Or maybe parity is such that the home field tilts the contest just enough.
In any event. I sure hope the trend continues. Although rivalry games probably lessen home field a bit. And both Berkeley and WSU had or have byes the week before
