For the record, I share most people’s distaste for his generally weak takes on Stanford football.  HOWEVER, he is now a perfect 9-for-9 on his hokey preseason game-by-game picks.

Optimists will note that we are now inevitably destined to win the next 3 games, requiring us to hail Wilner as a mensch.  Pessimists and realists will expect Wilner’s picks to come back down to earth. 

As for me, I would happily denounce all past and future Wilner-bashing in exchange for 3 more wins, thank you very much.

Never saw Chryst on TV. To anybody who was there in the Palouse, did he look rattled on the sideline?  :P

But how did Wilner know it would be frosty bedlam?  Woah.  Spooky.

Mon ami, you are splitting hairs between Chryst getting "rattled" and "benched" - the point is, he was going to be struggling, okay?!  ;)  Please respect my not quite Elite disciple at the Mercury News.  Did he not also correctly foresee cold weather in Pullman in November?!

Stranger things etc., but if Wilner is correct about winning vs Washington and Cal, and Washington State loses one of its two remaining games on the road vs Utah or Washington, we go to the conference championship game.

A few of these trends can be explained by home field advantages.

UCB has been pretty good at home, and amazingly bad on the road.  Same applies to WSU, USC and...sadly...Stanford.

Truly amazing. I don’t even care that this week Wilner predicted that Stanford would lose to ND. To get every single game correct (including SDSU and Washington) in the preseason is remarkable. Hope he made a lot of money on it in Vegas.

As I recall, he picked UW to go 8-1 in the conference, with their only loss to us.  He certainly didn’t pick us to be the PAC-12 North winners.
