Watson was two months short of 60 years old when he "almost won" The Open. Had an eight-footer on 18 that would have given him the win, then lost in a playoff.Â

I hope he comes back, but until he wins a tournament he's just another PGA pro to me - sorry not sorry. On Sunday his putter failed him - tee to green he was like the old Tiger but he couldn't make birdies
There are so many great golfers out there now. Paul Casey was the guy to have watched last Sunday. Shot 65 when most everyone else was struggling to break 70.

Really hard to win these days. Too many young guys with no fear of Woods. Johnson, Rahm and a healthy Koepka just bring courses to their knees. Looking forward to Augusta.

phogge -- I like your list, but I think Bubba needs to be on it if he has any kind of game going at the time. Augusta seems to fit him more so than any other course. Koepka surprisingly has only 1 career round in the 60s at Augusta.Â
on Woods, Sunday notwithstanding, his putter has been surprisingly good in his return. #2 in 1 putt percentage (?) or at least that is what I thought I heard one of the talking heads offer this weekend. Augusta usually is good to him as well as he putts faster greens better than slow greens. Valspar was running 11 to 12; Augusta will likely run 13 to 15. his driver though will make the difference.Â

And of course Tiger sank a very long putt on the 71st hole to give himself another long putt on the 17th to possibly get into a playoff. His re-entry into tournament play has been remarkably fast. Only one missed cut and improving finishes. For my part, I have re-assesses my guess about how far he can come back. The field at Valspar was very strong. He has now reinforced his internal confidence about what is possible. Now I am almost certain he will win again on tour. If his competitive psyche continues to heal, there is absolutely no reason he cannot someday win another major.
That said, the tour has never been this deep with talent, any one of whom can win each week. Golf at the amateur level is still struggling. Professional golf worldwide has never been this vibrant.
