Interestingly, the analytical model that Kogan hijacked was co-developed by Michal Kosinski, who is a faculty member at the GSB. Kosinski was a grad student at Cambridge when he was contacted by Kogan.

(I'm pretty sure I've been in the bottom 10% of earnings since about two years out of school.) His reply: "You're doing fine. You're not in jail." The next week my Business Week had an article about a classmate who had gotten caught up in some financial shenanigans and was incarcerated." My advisor was right. I felt much better.  :)

I don't know how many of mine (SCU, '84) were indicted by the SEC, but one of them should have been, CFO at a local public tech company.  His CEO (and high school buddy) did the perp walk in handcuffs.  In fact, his CEO was the first one to  get convicted in the stock options backdating scandal.

Still, if I'd been a victim of the pozi scheme (AKA, an investor), I wouldn't have much patience for trying to stave off bankruptcy as long as possible.  I would be demanding the quickest wind down that is practicable.
