just saw on Twitter that Alex Turner and Darren Daniel are off the latest football roster. I think Turner realized he was never going to play and maybe Daniel wanted to give another shot at playing QB somewhere else. Hard to say what happened...

some heavy hints on Rivals site that these might be a academics related.  At least one might be.
Rules require that academically ineligible student athletes not participate in any way in team activities,  which could explain their disappearance from the roster.    They would continue on scholarship while working to restore eligibility.  That is the analysis/speculation.  But the theory that both had amibitions to be starters or significant participants at their position of choice and might be moving on to try elsewhere might be true.

Apart from not wanting to see Stanford students fail to get the benefit of the education,  the reason we care about this is academic casualties might shut down or constrain the new cooperation between the athletic dept. and admissions.  If they are academic casualties,  they definitely would count against our graduation rate and Academic Progress Rate  compiled by the feds and NCAA.
