Agreed that Weeden, Foles, Moore, Case Keenum, RG3, and hell, even Barkley will likely put up greater raw offensive numbers than Andrew, so exposure and big game performance will be key. We'll need guys like Gemmell to keep the focus on 'most valuable' and 'most outstanding'.

If Wilson were to win with near equivalent stats, it would suck like it did in 2009 when Toby was runner up to the SEC publicity machine. I'm not convinced it would happen, just considering options for November & December.

This week's Luck hype did create a question for me.  Shaw and the staff have been very quick to point out that Luck will not be catching any more passes this season.  So does that mean Stanford will also stop running the wildcat?  If Luck is a wideout in the wildcat formation AND Stanford will not have anyone throw the ball to Luck.... ???

Um.. no. Looks like more wildcat in the offing. From ESPN's Stanford blog:

Shaw said he likes what he’s seen so far out of Gaffney when he runs the Wildcat formation.

“He’s got the voice to bark out the signal,” Shaw said. “He’s got great hands if the snap is not perfect. He’s got great hand-eye coordination. He’s a physical, between-the-tackles type of runner and it’s a way to ensure we get him the ball.”

And as a baseball player you’d imagine he can throw.

“Not very well,” Shaw confessed with a laugh. “He says he can. I’ve seen him throw a baseball and he’s got a rocket. But this is a different deal. Some guys can’t throw well with shoulder pads. He’s wearing running back pads, not quarterback pads.”
