I for one am tired of football and need a break from games. But I am curious to know what unique rules might be used to differentiate this league from the NFL. So if anyone has any idea, please feel free to drop your knowledge.
- 35 second play clock
- No XP; must go for 2
- No kickoffs; play starts from the 25
- No onside kick; to keep possession, a team can attempt a 4th-and-12 from their own 28
They are shooting for a shorter overall game time as well, with the shorter clock and no TV timeouts.
To expand a bit, you can only onside kick while down by 17 or more or with <5 minutes left in the game. So the vast majority of the time teams will just get the ball at the 25.
There's also a 9th official watching the TV feed who can call penalties, it's not totally clear which ones but it sounds like it's mostly helmet-to-helmet stuff. Overtime rules are college-like, each team gets first and goal from the 10 and there's no FGs, and the game can end in a tie.
