Joey Harrington, whom East Bay Fan used to refer to as "Joey Heatherton" because he fled the pocket if he felt even a stiff breeze, has been seriously injured. Here's hoping he gets well soon.

Joey is doing OK and considers himself to be quite lucky.  On a personal level Joey is a class act who has been quietly involved in many good works.  In fact, I would have been proud had he been a Stanfordite.  His Dad says it is likely that there will be no long term issues.  I am hoping for that as well.  Like Jimmy Carter, he is a far better at being an "ex" and man than he was as a player.

Joey is married with a young son 2-3 years old.  His wife is a nurse.  He has, as many former players, cobbled together several things (like commentating on football locally mostly on radio) instead of a 'career' altho he has talked about wanting to do financial advising.  Not sure he got rich on the NFL but the ethos of Portland is about bike riding.

If you want to feel old, I will note that tomorrow is Randy and Monica Fasani's 10th wedding anniversary.
